Sensei Luke is the current EKNG Disability Coach and has decades of competion experience at junior and senior level. As the founder of JS Karate Academy, his journey from a dedicated student to an elite national coach is the foundation of our academy's excellence.
Training & Background
Sensei James began his training in traditional Shotokan Karate at 5 years old, quickly demonstrating a natural aptitude for the discipline's rigorous demands. Holding a 3rd Dan Black Belt, he has spent years gaining experience on the world stage, ensuring that every lesson taught at the academy is rooted in authentic tradition.
Competition & Coaching
His competitive career spans decades, with numerous titles at national and international level, and even competed for years on the English National Team at both junior and senior levels. This experience led him to pivotal coaching roles, notably serving as an England National Youth and Junior Coach. Sensei James has guided dozens of athletes to national and international success, translating elite performance strategies into accessible training for students of all ages.
Founding JS Karate Academy
Driven by a mission to share the transformative power of karate with his local community, Sensei James founded JS Karate Academy. His vision was to create a space where traditional discipline meets modern athletic excellence, fostering an environment where parents can trust their children's development and students can reach their full potential. This then led into the forming of his very own association the 'National Karate Association', where himself and Sensei Luke guided students from around the country to countless success. With multiple regional, national and international champions....national squad members and commonwealth champions.....Sensei James really proved that age doesn't matter when it comes to coaching.

Starting at 6 years old, Sensei Luke has dedicated decades to the study and competition of Shotokan and Shito-ryu Karate. Having competed at the highest levels across junior and senior categories, he possesses a deep understanding of the technical nuances required for success. As the owner and head coach of LE Karate Academy, his training background is rooted in the same traditional values that define the National Karate Association, ensuring a cohesive learning experience for all students.
